Top-10 finish in Wild West Shootout opener at Arizona Speedway

Behind the wheel of the Rob Mayea-owned No. 59 Rocket Chassis XR1 Late Model, Garrett Alberson invaded FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Ariz.) on Saturday afternoon to kick off the 2021 season with the 15th annual Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout. With a stout field of 57 Late Models converged in the pit area for the first round of six, Garrett laid down the sixth fastest lap in his time trial group before picking up an eight-lap heat race victory. For another $5,000-to-win A-Main on Sunday afternoon, Alberson edged his way into the main event with the third and final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 14th, Garrett was contacted by another competitor in the opening laps that flattened a tire. He was unable to rejoin the field, bringing an early end to his evening.
