Fourth-place finish in MLRA finale; finishes second in points race

With Mother Nature nixing Friday’s opener, Garrett Alberson returned with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) on Saturday at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) for the series finale. After topping the 25-car field in time trials, Alberson posted a second-place finish in his heat race, which came behind Jeff Herzog. Earning the fourth-starting position for the $7,000-to-win finale, Garrett ran a steady pace throughout the 50-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Brian Shirley, Frank Heckenast Jr., and Gordy Gundaker to the checkers with Tony Jackson Jr. coming in fifth. (Todd Boyd photo)
