Pair of fourth-place finishes at Highland and Lake Ozark

With Friday’s opener at Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Mo.) rained out, Garrett Alberson and Roberts Motorsports called an audibled and traveled to Highland Speedway (Highland, Ill.) on Friday night for the DIRTcar Summer Nationals event. Drawing 26 cars for the Hell Tour event rescheduled from July 10, Garrett followed up the third fastest time overall with a heat race win. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in third, Alberson dropped one spot in the 50-lap affair to finish fourth. He followed Brandon Sheppard, Bobby Pierce, and Tanner English across the line with Ashton Winger coming in fifth.

Joining the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) on Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway for the Battle at the Beach, Alberson’s runner-up finish in his heat race positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the feature. With $7,000 on the line, Garrett gained two positions to register a fourth-place finish. He took the checkers behind Payton Looney, Billy Moyer, and Chad Simpson with Tony Jackson Jr. rounding out the Top-5. (Mike Musslin photo)
