Alberson opens 2023 with a pair of top-10's in Wild West Shootout
Roberts Motorsports pilot Garrett Alberson returned to his roots on Saturday afternoon with a visit to Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) for the 17th edition of the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout.
In a stout field of 48 Late Models, Garrett followed up the second-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a heat race victory. Receiving the pole for the $10,000-to-win A-Main via the redraw, Alberson hung onto a ninth-place finish in the 40-lapper after tagging the turns one and two wall on lap 15.
On Sunday, Alberson outran fellow front-row starter Kyle Larson in his heat race to pick up the win. With the redraw placing him on the pole again, Garrett battled an ill-handling car to a ninth-place finish.
