Podium finish in MLRA Spring Nationals at Wheatland
Trying his best to avoid Mother Nature, Garrett Alberson returned to action on Friday afternoon at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the two-day event to kick off the season for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA).
Drawing 48 cars, Alberson raced his way into the opener via a consolation win after missing a transfer spot by one position in his heat. With $5,000 on the line, Garrett gained six spots to finish 11th.
For the second round of MLRA Spring Nationals on Saturday, Garrett timed in fourth-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. Starting the $10,000-to-win finale in seventh, Alberson charged to a third-place finish in the 40-lapper. He chased race-long pacesetter Jonathan Davenport and Chad Simpson to the checkers.
