Pair of top-10's in Firecracker 100 prelims at Lernerville
Following the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to Pennsylvania, Garrett Alberson was one of 49 competitors in the pit area at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) on Thursday afternoon to kick off the 17th running of the Firecracker 100 weekend.
After racing into his preliminary feature with a fifth-place finish in his heat race, a steady rain shower at the facility forced officials to move both prelims to Friday afternoon.
Starting 12th in his rain-delayed A-Main, Garrett gained five positions in the 25-lap affair to finish seventh.
Later Friday night for another round of prelims, Alberson laid down the ninth-fastest lap in his time trial group before placing fifth in his heat. With $5,000 on the line in his feature, Garrett passed seven cars to register an eighth-place finish.
On Saturday, Garrett locked his spot into the $50,000-to-win Firecracker 100 with a third-to-second run in his heat race. Rolling off seventh, Alberson got turned while running in the top-10 on lap 33 that brought a disappointing end to his weekend.
Garrett remains 13th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
