Runner-up finish in Hoker Truck 50 at Davenport Speedway
For a quick stint with the MARS Championship Series, Roberts Motorsports and Garrett Alberson rolled into Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) on Tuesday afternoon for the Hoker Trucking 50.
With a third-place finish in his heat race placing him on the fourth row for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Alberson advanced forward five spots in the 40-lap affair to register a second-place finish. He followed Drake Troutman to the checkers with Jeff Larson coming in third.
Trekking to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) on Friday, Garrett was one of 63 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series competitors on the grounds for the 33rd running of the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend. With preliminary features leading up to Saturday’s finale, Alberson ran into rear-end issues in his prelim that sidelined him with a one lap remaining.
Buried in a B-Main on Saturday, Alberson revived his chances of making the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic with a 13th-to-8th run. Earning a spot into the non-qualifier feature where only the winner received the option into the main event, Garrett charged forward 13 spots to finish fifth, ending his night but capping off the weekend with an another strong run.
