Garrett Alberson passes 14 cars to finish 12th in North-South 100
Roberts Motorsports and Garrett Alberson followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Thursday as a pair of preliminary nights kicked off the 46th annual North-South 100 weekend.
With the 61-car field split in two, Alberson followed up the fifth-fastest lap in his time trial group with a runner-up showing in his heat. After battling carb issues early in his 25-lap prelim, Garrett rebounded from the tail to finish 13th.
For Friday’s preliminary program, Garret locked his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat. Breaking into the top-10, Alberson inched forward three spots in the 25-lapper to place ninth.
With preliminary results setting the grid for heat races on Saturday, Alberson faded in his heat to finish ninth, relegating him into a B-Main. Taking the top-two, Garrett passed five cars but missed a transfer spot, forcing him to use a provisional into the main event. Starting the $75,000-to-win Sunoco North-South 100 in 26th, Alberson advanced through the field 14 spots in the 100-lap affair to register an impressive 12th-place finish.
Garrett sits in 12th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
