Pair of top-10's in World 100 prelims at Eldora Speedway
Garrett Alberson unloaded the Roberts Motorsports No. 58 Longhorn Chassis Late Model at the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday as a pair of prelims on Thursday and Friday opened the 53rd annual World 100 weekend.
Starting his $12,000-to-win preliminary feature in 20th via a fifth-place result in his heat, Garrett charged forward 11 spots in the 25-lapper to register a ninth-place finish.
On Friday, Alberson followed up the 20th-fastest qualifying effort in his 51-car group with the fifth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Wheeling his way into the top-10 again in his prelim, Garrett passed 10 cars to finish eighth.
Rolling off on the front row of his heat race on Saturday afternoon based on Eldora’s Every Lap Matters format, Garrett broke a crank trigger early in the 15-lapper that dropped him out of a transfer spot. With a fourth-place run in his B-Main positioning him on the 14th row for the $56,000-to-win World 100 finale, Alberson completed 38 circuits before pulling off. He was scored 26th in the final rundown.
