Garrett Alberson steers to 12th in Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals finale
Making a short detour on their way to Knoxville, Roberts Motorsports and Garrett Alberson stopped at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) on Tuesday for the eighth stop of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries.
Garrett was able to qualify for the $23,023-to-win One for the Road A-Main with a fifth-place finish in his heat but was sidelined on lap 16 with a broken rear-end.
To kick off the 19th annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals on Thursday at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa), Alberson recorded a fifth-place finish in his heat, relegating him into a B-Main. Sending the top-three into the opener, Garrett missed a transfer spot by one car.
On Friday, Garrett’s second-place showing in his heat positioned him on the ninth row for the $7,000-to-win preliminary feature. Clawing forward two spots in the 25-lapper, Alberson recorded a 15th-place outing.
Locked into the 20th-starting position for Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale, Alberson advanced through the field eight spots in the 75-lap affair to place 12th.
Garrett remains 11th in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
