Pair of runner-up finishes for Alberson in WWS, finishes third in points
The Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout continued on for Roberts Motorsports and Garrett Alberson on Wednesday at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) for the third round of the 18th annual event.
With heat race victory sending him into the redraw for Wednesday’s opener, Garrett took the green in fifth and climbed three spots to register a second-place finish. He chased race-long leader Bobby Pierce to the checkers with Shannon Babb rounding out the podium.
In another runner-up outing on Friday evening, Alberson followed up an eight-lap heat race victory with another second-place finish behind Bobby Pierce in the A-Main.
For another $11,000-to-win program on Saturday, Garrett started the night off with a second-place finish in his heat but made hard contact with the wall on lap 33 of the feature while running fourth that brought an early end to his night.
Alberson’s Wild West Shootout drew to a close on Sunday with an eighth-to-fourth run in the $25,000-to-win finale.
His fourth Top-5 finish of the event secured Garrett third in the final WWS point standings.
