Alberson third in North/South prelim at Florence; runner-up finish with MARS at East Moline
Returning to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition after a two-week break, Garrett Alberson unloaded the Roberts Motorsports No. 58 at Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) on Thursday afternoon for the North/South 100 weekend.
With 61 Super Late Models checked in for the three-day event, Alberson kicked off his weekend by setting quicktime in his qualifying group before starting sixth in one of the $6,000-to-win preliminary features and finishing ninth.
For Friday's prelim night, Garrett started the short 25-lap feature from the third-row and drove to a podium finish in third. He trailed Jonathan Davenport and Ricky Thornton Jr. while Jason Jameson and Tim McCreadie completed the Top-5.
For Saturday's $75,000-to-win finale, Alberson raced his way into the A-Main through a B-Main and made up 10 spots in the 100-lap feature to finish 12th.
Garrett is currently sixth in the LOLMDS point standings.
Tacking on an extra race on Sunday afternoon, Garrett joined the MARS Late Model Championship Series at East Moline (Ill.) Speedway and placed runner-up behind Ryan Unzicker in the $5,000-to-win main event.
