Garrett Alberson rallies for Top-5 finish in Winter Nationals finale at Ocala Speedway
Garrett Alberson unloaded his Roberts Motorsports No. 58 machine at Ocala (Fla) Speedway on Tuesday night for five straight days of racing at the facility for the Wieland Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Alberson recorded a 14th-place finish in the $7,000-to-win opener before finishing outside the Top-15 the following two nights. On Friday night, Garrett improved as he gained four positions to finish just outside the Top-10 in 11th.
Saving his best run for Saturday's $25,000-to-win finale, Alberson set quick time in his qualifying group before finishing second in his heat race. Starting from the third-row, Garrett drove to a fifth-place finish in the 50-lap main event. He trailed Devin Moran, Jonathan Davenport, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Brandon Overton.
