Prelim victory brings Garrett Alberson $6,000 payday at Florence Speedway
Garrett Alberson checked into Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) on Thursday afternoon to kick off a four-week stretch with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, starting off with the 43rd-annual Sunoco North/South 100.
Alberson was one of 51 Super Late Models on hand for night one and he qualified third-quickest among his group of cars. Alberson won his heat race and earned the third-starting position for the 25-lap preliminary feature. Taking the lead with just five circuits remaining, Garrett outdueled Devin Moran and Mike Marlar to the checkered flag for the $6,000 payday.
During Friday's preliminary action, Garrett raced to a fourth-place finish in his prelim which set him up well for Saturday's main event. After finishing third in a heat, Alberson started 15th in the 100-lap, $75,000-to-win finale and placed 17th.
The team is currently sixth in the overall point standings.
