Alberson ends Wieland Winternationals at East Bay with a pair of top-10's

For the fourth stop of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) speedweeks, Garrett Alberson and the Roberts Motorsports team traveled to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) for six consecutive nights of racing.

With a fourth-place finish in his heat race relegating him into one of three consolation races for another shot at the $5,000-to-win prelim, Alberson elected to not use a provisional after missing a transfer spot by one car with a third-place finish.

For the second round of the Wieland Winternationals on Tuesday, Garrett fell one position short of a transfer spot in both his heat and B-Main, ending his night early.

On Wednesday, Alberson followed up a fourth-place outing in his heat with a runner-up finish in his B-Main, transferring him into the feature. With $7,000 on the line, Garrett charged forward eight positions in the 40-lap affair to finish 14th.

With the field inflated to 63 cars on Thursday, Garrett snuck into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Wheeling his way into the top-10, Alberson passed six cars in the 40-lapper to register a ninth-place finish.

The following night, Alberson laid down the fourth-fastest lap in his group before placing second in his heat. Battling for the $12,000 top prize in the feature, Garrett gained two positions to cross the line in sixth.

A mixture of wet weather and an unfavorable forecast cancelled Saturday’s Wieland Winternationals finale.
