Alberson earns fourth-career Lucas Dirt victory in rain-shortened Knoxville Nationals prelim

Garrett Alberson and the Roberts Motorsports crew joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in the state of Iowa on Thursday afternoon as the national tour invaded Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway for the 21st-annual Knoxville Nationals.

With just under 40 Late Models on hand for night one, Alberson started on the front-row of the 25-lap preliminary feature and took the lead on the initial start. Garrett weathered multiple mid-race restarts and held off a hard-charging Tyler Erb before the feature was cut short by incoming rain showers. Alberson collected a $10,000 payday while Tyler Erb and Daulton Wilson filled in the podium.

Staying dry on Friday evening, Alberson started eighth in the second $10,000-to-win prelim feature and rounded out the Top-5 in fifth. The result earned Garrett a second-row starting spot for Saturday's finale.

Alberson chased the $75,000 victory on Saturday night, but fell back in the 75-lapper and wound up seventh in the finishing order.

Alberson remained sixth in the LOLMDS point standings.

Full results from the three-day weekend can be viewed at www.LucasDirt.com.
