Garrett Alberson Wires Saturday’s Wild West Shootout at Central Arizona Raceway
New Mexico Racer Earns $15,000 for Third WWS Victory
DUBUQUE, Iowa (Jan. 20, 2026) — Garrett Alberson cruised to his third career Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout victory on Saturday, dominating the penultimate event of the miniseries at Central Arizona Raceway aboard the Roberts Motorsports / Low Voltage Solutions No. 58 Longhorn Chassis Late Model.
Alberson earned a $15,000 payday for the flag-to-flag triumph in a caution-free 40-lap feature, accomplishing the feat in his backup car after his primary entry suffered a broken rocker arm the previous night.
“I love it when it goes caution free, I’m a green-flag racer,” Alberson said. “I caught lapped traffic there and really wasn’t sure where to be … I was trying to pick my battles … you know how that goes.” Alberson also credited his team’s role in the victory, adding, “Man, I’ve just got to thank this team. I’m so proud of these guys. They said, ‘Don’t touch this thing, just drive it.’”
The final four rounds of the Wild West Shootout resumed midweek with Alberson finishing seventh on Wednesday before improving to a sixth-place result on Friday.
Continuing that momentum into Saturday, Alberson topped his time-trial group, claimed a convincing heat race victory, and went on to dominate the main event. He crossed the finish line 5.486 seconds ahead of Friday’s winner, Hudson O’Neal.
Alberson’s bid for another strong finish came to an early end in Sunday’s $25,000-to-win finale, as a mechanical issue sidelined him while running third on lap 28.
